"All scientists shall
have the right to present their scientific research results, in whole
or in part, at relevant scientific conferences, and to publish the same
in printed scientific journals, electronic archives, and any other
media." — Declaration
of Academic Freedom, Article 8
Progress
in Physics is an American scientific
journal, registered with the Library
of Congress
(DC, USA):
ISSN 1555-5534 (print version) and ISSN 1555-5615 (online version). Our
journal is peer reviewed and listed in the abstracting and indexing
coverage of: Mathematical
Reviews of the AMS (USA), DOAJ
of Lund University (Sweden), Zentralblatt
MATH (Germany), Scientific
Commons of the University of St.Gallen (Switzerland), Open-J-Gate
(India), Referential
Journal of VINITI (Russia), etc. Progress in Physics
is an open-access journal published and distributed in accordance with
the Budapest
Open Initiative: this means that the electronic copies of
both full-size version of
the journal and the individual papers published therein will always be
acessed for reading, download, and
copying for any user free of charge. The journal is
issued quarterly (four volumes per
year).
Progress in Physics
has been created for publications on advanced studies
in theoretical and experimental physics, including related themes from
mathematics. All submitted papers should be professional, in good
English,
containing a brief review of a problem and obtained results. We usually
accept brief papers, no larger than 8-10
typeset journal pages. Short articles are preferable. Large papers can
be considered in exceptional cases to the section
Special
Reports intended for such
publications in the journal. Letters related to the publications in the
journal or to the events
among the science community can be applied to the section Letters to
Progress in Physics. All that has been accepted for the
online
issue is printed in the paper version of the journal.
An abstract and the necessary information
about author(s) should be included in the papers.
Authors are invited
to submit manuscripts to Progress
in Physics. The journal promotes individual academic
freedom and will consider all work without regard to affiliations. For
this reason, the articles published in Progress in Physics
may not necessarily represent the views of the Editorial Board or its
individual members. All submissions will be read by one of the
Editors, then forwarded to invited experts, whose professional field is
close to the submission. Decision about the submission will be produced
by the Editors, according to the recommendations obtained from the side
of the reviewers. If an article is accepted for publication, the author
must complete the following steps:
1. The
manuscript must be submitted electronically in typeset LaTeX format
utilizing the template
available on the Progress
in Physics website (to work with this
template you need to have TeX
software installed on your computer). It is essential that
the final submission be in
standard professional scientific typeset LaTeX format. If the submitted
article is incorrectly typeset, the authors will be required to correct
the typesetting and resubmit the article prior to publication.
2. All
references must be presented in numerical order, following the sequence
in which they appear within the text. References must be formatted as
follows:
Name A.B. and Name
C.D. Title of the article. Name
of the Journal, year, v.#, no.#, page#-page#.
Name A.B. and Name C.D. Title of the article. Name of the Proceedings,
Publisher, City, year, page#-page#.
Name A.B. and Name C.D. Title of the article. Name of the Electronic
Archive: # of the item.
Name A.B. and Name C.D. Title of the book. Publisher, City, year.
For example:
Smith A.B. and Jones C.D. Treatment on thermodynamics. Journal on Physics,
2007, v.52, no.11, 10-22.
Smith A.B. and Jones C.D. On the basics of thermodynamics. Proceedings of the Meeting on
Thermodynamics, Scientific Publishers, New York, 2007,

Smith A.B. and Jones C.D. New lectures on thermodynamics. Scientific
Publishers, New

3. Progress in
Physics is a non-commercial, academic edition. The authors
are requested to pay the page charges and postal charges, to cover the
printing cost and distribution. Page charges are determined by the
final page length. The current
charge is US $25 for one typeset
journal page plus postal rates per issue (US $10 inside the USA/Canada
and US $40 international). All payments should be made by money order,
cashier's check, international
bank draft or by electronic bank transfer, Western Union, etc., in US
dollars. Upon publication, the authors of each paper will be sent
3 copies of the journal. Additional copies of the journal can be
purchased.
After these steps
have been completed, the final typeset scientific article will be
posted on the Progress
in Physics website and included in the printed format of
the journal.
If
you agree to accept our simple policy,
send the LaTeX file(s) to the Editor-in-Chief.
If accepted, it will be typeset in our
office, and the final version will be sent to you for proofreading. To
order printed copies of the journal, contact the Editors. You can also
register for the e-print version of the journal free of charge, whilst
your institution's library can register for the printed version (just
send the details to us for free registration).
Progress in Physics
is
supported solely by financial contributions from its authors. It does
not accept financial support from silent donors, private groups, or
organizations. The journal is officially hosted at
http://ptep-online.com
and http://geocities.com/ptep_online.
Progress
in Physics grants permission to anyone to maintain their
own
personal archive of the journal, provided that these remain for
non-commerical, academic, or personal use and do not represent
themselves as official sponsors of the journal.
